ABOUT NRITYANGAN:

Nrityangan – is a premiere institution for Classical Manipuri Dance Music & Arts. The institution is career oriented and trains students with the objective of making them independent performers, choreographers and teachers. Established in 2004. Its Director Sovanabrata Sircar instils in the students an innate love for the art of India.

AFFILIATION:

Nrityangan is affiliated to the Bangiya Sangeet Parishad (recognised by Rabindrabharati University), West Bengal from the Prarambik level to the Nritya Visharad(degree level) The child is trained till the post graduation level.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Ø On admission each student is given a set of theory and practical notes, music book and a practice CD for the practice of steps till the second level.

Ø As the child progresses the presentation CDs are provided consisting of the songs in the student’s curriculum at a very nominal charge.

Ø Classical vocal music is taught free of charge because music is part and parcel of any art form and knowledge in it enables them to be better artist.

Ø Regular internal exams are conducted in the last three months before the final exam so that the child can fare well and is familiar with all sorts of questions. - On graduation from the academy the candidate may be absorbed into the academy as paid staff.

Ø Every child on attaining a certain level of perfection is taken for performances like Annual Performance; National Level Dance competitions organized by the various States.

Ø Children are also taken for Doordarshan performances as decided by the Director.

Ø Children who show good progress may be taken for appearing in the National level scholarship auditions, senior level scholarships and Doordarshan audition.

Ø After completion of Visharad (degree) the child may be given registration number by the University as registered examiners and teachers.

Ø As this is a valid and recognized degree the children after graduation can get proper placements in schools.

Admission procedure:

Nrityangan takes admissions in the month of April. Since the admissions taken are limited, the registration opens one month in advance. On the day of the admission pooja is performed for the student. The student should bring one coconut, flowers, fruits (even in number), Agarbatti and Guru Dakshina.

Rules and Regulations:

Ø Students should be punctual and regular in the classes.

Ø Students who miss more than three classes without notice will be demoted lower batch.

Ø Students should come in proper uniform: White kurta, Bottel Green salwar and dupatta till 5th year.

Ø Fees should be paid positively by the 10th of January, April, July and October.

Ø Students are expected to participate in cultural functions organised by the Institution.

Ø Parents are requested to follow their ward’s progress and to supervise their practices.

Ø The summer break will be of duration of 15 -21 days in the month in the month of May and June.

Ø Fees will be collected for all twelve months irrespective of holidays.

Ø Student who misses the classes for more than three months then re-admission charges will be taken.
